No False Alarms

Best Buy Canada is a case study in the Scorpion’s success. They were experiencing “false alarm syndrome” – meaning that regular use of their live demo products was setting off too many false alarms. Over time, the small “sticky pads” that attach electronic sensors to their live demo products had gradually deteriorated, causing them a lot of false alarms and a lot of headaches. As one might expect, this forced Best Buy Canada’s sales team to act like a police force, instead of a sales team. Every time an alarm sounded, sales in the area halted and customers made quick exits—not wanting to become a suspect instead of a customer.

Scorpion Security Products offered a solution to the Best Buy Canada team, and worked with them to create a multi-faceted solution. The first step was replacing the outdated “sticky pad” devices with Scorpions, eliminating the electronic system and therefore the false-alarm problem. Other steps were put into place involving tethering devices and updated displays, but the heart of the solution to their false-alarm problems was simple: replacing an outdated electronic system with the mechanical Scorpion.

Mechanical System

The mechanical system’s benefits don’t end with eliminating false-alarms. The Scorpion’s mechanical design is also what makes it so universal. The mechanical design is totally streamlined so that employees don’t spend large amounts of time fitting products with Scorpions. The Scorpion was designed to be installed quickly and efficiently.

The Scorpion’s mechanical design also makes it extremely durable. It is designed to be used repeatedly and with a variety of products. This makes it a small investment with long term returns.

If desired, the Scorpion can be connected to other mechanical products offered by SSP. These products include the Scorpion Non-Electric Alarm System. This is a battery operated system, requiring no electric lines, that absolutely eliminates false alarms forever. The Non-Electric system sounds an alarm only when the tether is cut, making it as secure as it is reliable.

Adaptable to Current System

Already have existing displays and alarm systems in place? No problem. Scorpions thrive in a multitude of store environments. Using Scorpions does not require a store to perform a total makeover– just the opposite, in fact. You can keep your existing display stands, recoiler/tethering devices, and electronic security systems.

Zero Theft

CTIA or the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association holds a World Expo each year in Las Vegas, Nevada. The world’s leading telecommunications, Consumer Electronic Manufacturers, Retailers and Software companies (Microsoft, Google, LG, Apple, Verizon, AT&T, etc) gather there each year to showcase their latest technologies. As you might imagine, security at this event is extremely important.

Prior to Scorpion’s involvement, there was a 50 to 60% theft rate of these very valuable products. Since Scorpion was contracted by CTIA in 2008, theft has been reduced to zero.

40,000 people visit the Emerging Technology Booth during this three-day event, and all of these Fortune 500 companies can be assured their products are secure. Scorpion has won the respect and trust of the one of the most high-profile technology events of the year.
